You must diversify the traffic sources that arrive at your Website.

Focusing upon only one traffic source leaves you “stuck” if that source dries up for some reason that is beyond your control.

What reasons:

A well-funded competitor buys your traffic away from you
A mistake causes the search engines to suspend your account or ban your site
New Blogs or Web 2.0 sites preoccupy your visitors and they don’t have time to return to your site
Your offers attract only “freebie” hounds, not real buyers, and the unsubscribe from your mailing list after getting the free gift that you offer
Etc.

So, your core business depends upon traffic from multiple sources.

And, you have to keep one click ahead of your competition.

Making Money from your Web Traffic

August 8th, 2010 Joseph Chmielewski No comments

Making money from a Website and the traffic that it attracts is not as easy as it used to be.

Competition is stiff, and the skills required to build relationships with clients and customers take time.

So, refine your pre-sales and sales skills as much as you do your traffic-getting skills, or you could find that lots of visitors still add up to little revenue. Your site traffic should bring multiple revenue streams instead of a trickle that piddles into your bank account.

And, be sure to diversify your pre-sales and sales methods so that you have multiple revenue streams in the same way that you diversity your traffic getting so that you have multiple traffic streams.

What to do with Website Traffic

August 6th, 2010 Joseph Chmielewski No comments

Just getting traffic to your Website, attracting visitors galore; is only a first step.

What is more important is that these visitors sign up to become customers or clients!

And making a sale is fine, but getting the names and addresses of everyone who arrives is better than only making sales.

The reason: Only one or two out of 100 first time visitors will purchase. This means that 97% or more of your traffic was wasted.

You are better off capturing the names of 85% of the visitors that arrive at your site and selling later than hoping to make a sale on the visitor’s first visit. Reality check: This seldom happens.

What you need to do is capture the name and E-mail address of as many visitors as possible.

Must-Have Traffic-Getting Website Features

August 5th, 2010 Joseph Chmielewski No comments

To bring traffic to your Website you must do more than create a Home Page. And you must do more than make sure that the page has a title.

First, ensure that you list the keywords that your page focuses upon in the “Meta Tag” section.

Next, Make sure that your page has one “H1″ tag; i.e., a top-level headline…and make sure that those same keywords are in that headline.

Then, use those keywords on the page and make them bold or italicize them.

Try to use those keywords in the first sentence of your page, and in the last sentence. (Using the keywords as the first words and the last words on the page is a plus, but make sure that this type of wording doesn’t look silly to your Website’s readers.)
